Unarmed Robbery

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan State University Police are investigating the report of an unarmed robbery that occurred at 2 a.m. Oct. 27 on the River Trail behind the Administration Building near the Computer Center.

The victim, a 21-year-old student, said he was walking home when he was hit on the side of his head. He told police he heard someone quickly walking behind him, and he heard three male voices just before being hit, losing consciousness and falling to the ground.

The suspects took the victim’s necklace and removed his wallet from his pocket taking his student ID, and a debit and ATM card. The suspects left the wallet and his backpack which contained his laptop and other property.

The student sought treatment for minor injuries at Olin Health Center.

Police said the student was not able to provide a description of the suspects.

MSU police are asking anyone with information about this incident to contact the department at (517) 355-2222.

  2. Walk in well-lit areas if possible.
  3. Be aware of your surroundings and others in the area.
  4. Realize that listening to headphones or iPods or talking on your cell while walking decreases your awareness of your surroundings.
  5. Walk with others when possible.
