Report of student with gun proves false

EAST LANSING, Mich. — At about 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, MSU police received a report of a student allegedly carrying a gun under his suit jacket in a political science class at Conrad Hall. Within minutes three uniformed officers entered the classroom and talked with the student.  Officers determined he did not have a handgun, but that it was the student’s cellular device on his belt that a witness had mistakenly identified as a weapon.  MSU Police never displayed their weapons.

Safety Tips

Here are some safety tips from the MSU Police:

  1. Call 911 if you are in danger.
