Woman reports sexual assault, police investigating

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State University Police are investigating a report of an alleged sexual assault at 9:45 p.m. last night in Lot 91 near Hubbard Hall.

A 19-year-old woman student told police she was assaulted by two men near the railroad tracks as she walked from Lot 91 toward the Hubbard Hall bus stop. She said the men began hitting her and pulling and tearing her clothes.

The victim reported she was knocked to the ground but an approaching vehicle caused the men to flee in an unknown direction.

The woman sustained minor injuries and refused medical attention. She was unable to provide a description of the men.

Anyone witnessing or having information about this incident are asked to contact the Michigan State University Police at 517-355-2222.

  1. Call 911 if you are in danger.
  2. Walk in well-lit areas if possible.
  3. Be aware of your surroundings and others in the area.
  4. Realize that listening to headphones or iPods or talking on your cell while walking decreases your awareness of your surroundings.
  5. Walk with others when possible.
