An Introduction to Emergency Management...

"What if...?" What if Michigan State University is hit by a tornado, do we know what to do? What if a rail car carrying a toxic chemical tips over as it passes through our campus, do we know what to do? What if a terrorist plants a bomb, chemical or biological agent in one of our buildings, do we know what to do?
The answer to all of these questions and more is YES we do, thanks to Emergency Management. "EM" is the process of organizing efforts to mitigate, prepare for, respond to and recover from all these hazards and more.
We do not do this alone. Michigan State University is part of a larger organization of support that includes Ingham County, the State of Michigan and the Federal Government. As our needs may increase, so will our support from these groups.
