Incident Command

In times of disaster or severe emergencies, the Michigan State University Police along with other units will activate the Incident Command System (ICS) to manage the event.

ICS is a nationally recognized and recommend method for coordinating and managing both simple and complex emergency responses. ICS uses common terminology and practices that allow diverse response units to function together. It is used by government agencies, the military and private industry.

ICS provides for the ability to identify responsibilities for the recognized functions in advance. Michigan State University has done this and has been active in training units to use the ICS model.
