Qualifications and Salary
Minimum Qualifications
Must have equivalent to a four year degree.
Must be a citizen of the United States.
Certifiable through Michigan Commission On Law Enforcement Standards
Must have a valid Michigan Driver’s License without restrictions
or suspensions.
Must possess satisfactory physical condition determined by the M.S.U.
physician of choice.
Must pass pre-screen interview, oral interview, and background investigation.
Probationary Period
Twelve months, however it may be extended to eighteen months.

Overtime
Home football games are mandatory overtime events. There are plenty
of opportunities to work other overtime events on a voluntary basis.
Leave and Benefits
Sick Leave
Accrue four hours for each two weeks of service. Maximum accrual is
1,200 hours.
Vacation Leave
Date of hire-60 months: 96 hours 61-120 months: 144 hours 121-beyond:
192 hours
Personal Leave
Twenty four hours per year.
Holiday Leave
Nine paid holidays per year.
Longevity Pay
Longevity is computed as a percentage of the employee’s annual
base rate of pay. This does not include overtime or premium pay. The longevity
pay schedule ranges from six years of service through 26 or more years
and begins at 2%-8% of $9,500 respectively.
Health and Dental Coverage
May enroll for health care coverage within 60 days of employment date.
Select either Physicians Health Plan or Community Blue. Delta Dental Plan
is also provided.
Death Benefit and Insurance
M.S.U. will provide, at no cost to the employee, a fully paid life plan
in case of death while on active duty status equal to one year’s
annual base salary or wage.
Additional Benefits
Educational Assistance
May apply for reimbursement or tuition waiver for up to 16 credits per
academic (semester) year, which are job related or promote professional
development. Must be full time for at least one year to be eligible.
Retirement Benefits
Begins at any age with 25 years of continuous full time employment.
An employee contributes 5% of base salary and the University matches it
10%. An employee may put more into a supplemental program, regardless
the University puts in 10%.
Long Term Disability
Provides for continuation of monthly wage equal to 60% of the monthly
base salary, up to a maximum monthly benefit of $3,000. Includes a cost
of living rider and a $50 per month minimum benefit. The program pays
the employees 5% contribution and University’s 10% contribution
to the TIAA-CREF retirement program. Disability ceases at age 70 and retirement
annuity will begin.
